acai bowl recipe without acai powder
My breakfast of choice lately? Acai bowls. If you’re not familar, an acai bowl is basically a smoothie topped with fresh fruit. They’re served at health food shops and restaurants all around the city, but they’re quite simple and easy to make at home for yourself. I essentially blend my typical smoothie (with frozen berries) then top with fruit and coconut or granola. It’s full of healthy antioxidants, plus it’s so colorful, fun to make, and pretty to serve. (You can often find ‘pre-made’ frozen acai packs, but I prefer to make my own, so I can control and know exactly what I’m eating!). All the fresh ingredients needed for this recipe I ordered from Peapod. The delivery service is a complete lifesaver, because grocery shopping in a big city isn’t always so easy! (There’s a reoccurring thought that comes to mind: “Just how many bags can I carry and walk 5 blocks home…?” ha ha). I’ve recommended Peapod before, so if you’re interested in trying for the first time: You can save $20 off your order or enter the giveaway below.  Read on for more details, plus my recipe…
