5 Ways to Make A House Feel Home

I’m excited to share a few snapshots around home today, and also host a GIVEAWAY for you (details below!). Though I’ve called my current place “home” for nearly 3 years, the process of decorating and achieving that “lived-in” feeling has been a process — and still very much in progress. Like many of you, I’m sure, creating a space you love takes time, attention to budget, and a little trial-and-error. No matter your life stage, home or apartment, I’ve found that a few simple (and often inexpensive) things make a house feel like “home” in a flash:

KEEPSAKES | A basic, but important one! Keepsakes are what make a home feel unique and yours. Display framed photos, travel finds, favorite books and artwork proudly.

PLANTS | Bring the outdoors in. Whether it’s with a plotted plant, succulents, or fresh flowers, plants give character and color — and even offer health benefits.

MUSIC | Less TV, more music! Be mindful of too much TV time and its background noise. Think about the tone you want to set at home, and play music that makes you happy and energized.

GUESTS | Invite guests, no matter if you think your home isn’t “finished” or 100% clean. Many times, you’re the only one who notices your home’s quirks — and guests don’t really care, anyway! Visits from friends and family make a home feel right.

FRAGRANCE | A necessity, in my book! Home fragrance makes a great first impression for you (and guests). I like to rotate scents, depending on season, and have been loving this diffuser and candle during the summer months.
