4th of July Style

posted on: Thursday, June 29, 2017

I can't believe 4th of July weekend is nearly here! (Where is the summer going?) I'm excited for a weekend away in Michigan, near New Buffalo. The coastline is so pretty there... I can't wait to arrive! Do you have any fun plans for the holiday? Whatever it is, I hope you enjoy some time in the sun, and a chance to slow down and enjoy summertime. In the spirit of red, white and blue, I rounded up a collection of patriotic styles... enjoy!

Rose Gold

You've probably noticed I have a thing for rosy pinks and gold, by now. Here's a handful of newer styles I'm loving lately... especially this luggage — which is less than $150 and comes in 5 different colors. Perfect for a summer getaway, right? I also adore this splurgeworthy trench coat (now marked down) and these round tortoiseshell sunnies.

Announcing: New Series!

posted on: Friday, June 23, 2017

I'm excited to establish a new series here on the blog... coffee talk! A little reasoning for the series: Every week, I receive several emails and Instagram messages from lovely readers — and I thought I'd open up the discussion here, as well. So, now your part: Ask me anything (yes, anything!). Whether it's things to do in Chicago, life in a big city, style or beauty recommendations, blogging tips (or the blogging industry, in general), post-grad life, wedding planning or personal Q's... send them my way! I'm happy to chat more.

You can email me, message or comment on Instagram, leave a question or topic idea in the comment section below, or if you wish to remain anonymous, fill out this anonymous entry. I'll always keep your identity private. I'm aiming to collect questions and post responses every other week. If you're reading, I'd love for you to ask a Q or submit a topic. Let's get it started!

Summer is a natural time to step it up in the fitness game. Between warmer temps and longer days, I'm trying to be as active as possible now. In full disclosure, I was gifted these pieces of activewear (the leggings, sports bra and jacket) thanks to 90 Degree by Reflex— but from the first wear and beyond, I'm truthfully impressed with the quality and fit. The leggings feel identical to lululemon, but cost much less, and I adore the mesh detailing on this sports bra and bomber jacket. (These last two are currently out of stock... I'm hoping they'll return for sale soon!) If you're looking for new pieces for the gym or fitness studio (or let's be real, everyday athleisure), click over here to browse. Hope you're having a great week, everyone!

My Summer Bucket List

posted on: Monday, June 19, 2017

Summer is here... and I have a feeling it's going to be a good one. I've already enjoyed a fun start to the season, doing those 'quintessential' summery things  like baseball games, cookouts, concerts and such.  Summer always seems to fly by too quickly... so I'm determined to make the most of the warm days, while they last! Here are a few things I'm looking forward to checking off my summer 'must-do' these next few months:

• Trying a handful of new restaurants and rooftops.
• Grilling dinners and sipping wine on our deck.
• Visiting the Farmers Market in Lincoln Park.
• Attending street fests in our neighborhood.
• Enjoying sunset sails on Lake Michigan.
• Exploring the 606 and surrounding area.
• Hosting out-of-town friends in the city.
• Taking morning walks along the lakeshore.
• Visiting one of Chicago's many museums.
• Dining al fresco, as much as possible.
• Catching a movie in Millenium Park.

Now your turn! Anything on your personal summer bucket list?

Guys, I didn't forget about you! Father's Day is this upcoming weekend. Though I know my Dad is always happy with a round of golf and time with our family together on Father's Day, here are a few additional ideas for the special guys in your life. I gathered inspiration during a visit to Woodfield Mall last week, where all these items can be purchased.

Thank you Woodfield Mall for partnering this post.

madewell style
A week or so ago, I hosted a spring style event at Madewell. (Thank you to those readers who attended! It was a fun time!) The Chicago boutique on Rush Street is gorgeous — and currently stocked with tons of amazing spring to summer styles. Pop in sometime if you're in the Gold Coast! I rounded-up a collection of my personal favorite pieces, like this bell sleeve top, white skinnies, embroidered blouse and ever-popular leather tote. You can also find Madewell sold through Nordstrom and Shopbop.

Sleeveless Duster Jacket

Please say you're not sick of blush pink around here... (I can't help myself!) This lightweight, drape style duster is a versatile layering piece I love wearing — and it's under $50. I paired it with white skinnies, a simple cami, heels and this oversized tan leather clutch. (p.s. If you like the bag: it's available here, where sales help fund education opportunties for women in East Africa.) Hope you're having a great week!
