Where We're Getting Married

posted on: Tuesday, May 30, 2017

Since becoming engaged in December, we've made progress with the more "major" side of wedding plans — like our date and venue. Well, I'm happy to say, both have been secured for some time now (yay!) and I can share with you more on that front...

We're getting married in New Orleans!

Kevin and I are so excited to say "I do" in a city we've come to love together. (We're pretty sure our guests will enjoy NOLA, too!). I'm envisioning a celebration with lots of good music, plenty of candlelight, full of love and southern charm, of course. Because I'm planning largely from across the country, I've been quick to find and adopt a handful of resources to utilize until the big day next fall. Here are 3 tools that have been helpful in the wedding planning process so far:

INSTAGRAM  |  Yes, Instagram! While Pinterest has a strong presence in the wedding planning game, I prefer Instagram because content happens frequently in real-time and posts seem more authentic to me. (Pinterest feels like a big styled photoshoot sometimes, right?). I've used Instagram to search for locations and venues by geo-tag, as well as popular hashtags. Instagram is also a great way to connect with local vendors and gather ideas based on past work.

AGENDA  |  I was recently gifted this agenda and already know it will be put to good use. The agenda is organized into major categories, including vendors, payments, timeline and registry. While it's convenient to keep quick notes on an iPhone, it's nice to keep physical records, too. Along with the agenda, I'm keeping a stack of personalized stationery on my desk for handwritten thank-you's and correspondence notes, as they pop up.

WEDDINGWIRE  |  This site has it all, friends. WeddingWire has tremendously helped my search for a band, florist, rentals, transportation, hotels and beyond. I'm able to keep tabs on hired (and prospective) vendors all in one place, complete with contact information, reviews, pricing and FAQ. I also have certain WeddingWire tools bookmarked for future months, like the guest list manager and seating chart planner. And lastly, if you're interested in creating a wedding website or even a custom Snapchat filter for your wedding day or bachelorette (so fun!), they've got you covered.
