Best of 2016

posted on: Friday, December 30, 2016

Wishing you a Happy New Year's Eve (eve)! Before we welcome 2017, I want to slow down and celebrate a few highlights from this past year. Looking back on 2016, I'll remember it as a year filled with travel. It began with celebrating my birthday in New Orleans, then a few months later: embarking on a road trip west and cruising along Highway 1... visiting Napa Valley, San Fransisco, Big Sur, Monterrey, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Moab and Park City. I feel so thankful for the opportunity to experience such a cool part of our country this year, and visit a handful of our National Parks like Zion, Joshua Tree and Channel Islands. I also loved traveling to Vail, Aspen, and Naples, Florida most recently — and spending more time with loved ones back home, too. And, of course, 2016 will be remembered as the year we became engaged! (I'm still on cloud nine.) And you! Thank YOU for continuing to visit and support this blog I started 3 years ago. Looking forward to 2017, I cannot wait to take on new challenges and share exciting content in the works. It's sure to be a great year! As always, feel free to chime in with comments at the bottom of each post, or connect with me on Instagram or Facebook. Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy 2017!

New Year's Eve St. Germain Cocktail

posted on: Wednesday, December 28, 2016

We're mere days away from ringing in 2017! With the flurry of holiday parties and excitement surrounding Christmas, New Year's Eve can sometimes feel like an afterthought, you know? I'm looking forward to a more relaxed celebration this year — but you sure can count on champagne :) One of my favorite holiday cocktails to make is both festive and easy. All you need is chilled champagne (or any dry sparkling wine) and St. Germain

• St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
• Champagne, or prosecco
• (optional) Rosemary sprigs or sugared cranberries

Pour 1 ounce St. Germain into a coupe glass and top with chilled champagne. Garnish with rosemary or sugared cranberries, if desired.

For this recipe, I enlisted the help of Drizly — a delivery service that brings wine, beer and spirits to your door. All you do is pick your poison and order through the mobile app, or on your desktop. Delivery is ultra speedy... mine arrived in less than 30 minutes! Pretty perfect for chilly winter months or last-minute get togethers, if you ask me. If interested, you can save $5 off delivery with code BRIGHT. Cheers!

Thank you to Drizly for partnering on this post!

Spirit of Christmas

posted on: Tuesday, December 27, 2016

I hope you had (or are still enjoying) a wonderful holiday! I'm holding on to the spirit of Christmas as long as possible this week. I've so enjoyed taking an extended break, and spending time with family and friends in my hometown. There's something so special about returning home for Christmas. My parents always do it up! It's so important to slow down, unplug, and connect with those you love — to cherish what really matters and remember the true meaning of Christmas. Wishing you a happy (extended) holiday and best wishes as we welcome the new year!

We're Engaged!

posted on: Sunday, December 18, 2016

You may have seen the happy news... we're engaged! The big occasion happened this past Thursday, on a snowy day in Aspen. It truly was a magical moment we'll remember forever. Kevin and I are so excited! The outpouring of love and happiness from family & friends is beyond wonderful. I'm looking forward to sharing more of the proposal soon, as well as parts of wedding planning as it unfolds. Until then: thank you all for your kind words, as we celebrate this next chapter!

My Christmas Playlist

posted on: Wednesday, December 14, 2016

How do you get in the holiday spirit? For me, it's all about the music. I admit: I'm one of those people who could listen to Christmas music (almost) year-round. When it comes to favorites, I'm partial to the classics like Bing Crosby and Ella Fitzgerald. Spotify is where I love to create and share playlists, including this collection of Christmas tunes — old and new. Enjoy!
