Greetings from Arizona

posted on: Monday, March 28, 2016

Hello from Arizona! I'm spending the extended holiday weekend with family in Scottsdale — enjoying the warmer temperatures, taking a mountain trek up Squaw Peak, visiting the historic Wrigley Mansion, drinks on the lawn at the Biltmore and sunny days by the pool. Growing up, I celebrated many Easter holidays in Arizona and remember the Easter egg hunts my parents organized for us. It's so cute to see my little niece, Emma, carry on those similar celebrations! I hope you all had a happy and blessed Easter — I'll see you later this week!

Travel Style

travel style
I'm headed to Arizona for the extended holiday weekend, and couldn't be happier for a little sunshine and time with family. As I pack my bags for the trip, I wanted to share a few travel-related favorites... and I'd love to know: What are your personal travel or in-flight essentials? Are you headed anywhere fun soon?!

LEATHER TOTE | Keeps me organized on-the-go, fitting my laptop, camera and more.
COMFORTABLE SHOES | Non-negotiable! When it comes to travel footwear, comfort is key.
VERSATILE SCARF | Stay comfortable and cozy, should temperatures get chilly in-flight.
WATER BOTTLE | To keep hydrated — along with a healthy snack and Venti, of course.
READING MATERIAL | I like to be prepared with a new book and favorite glossies.
HEADPHONES | To enjoy tunes or a podcast and zone out from travel noise.

7 Ways to a Happy and Productive Day

posted on: Monday, March 21, 2016

There's no time like the present (or a Monday morning!) to get productive. Whether you work in an office or at home, how do you stay motivated and tackle your week? Here's what works best for me to make the most of days, here in no particular order:

Tidy up. | Less is more! You know what they say: cluttered space, cluttered mind. Before going to bed each night, I like to spend 5 minutes tidying up around home, so I can begin each day feeling organized and ready to embrace the day.

Carpe diem. | Resist the snooze button and get the morning started! Even the smallest of accomplishments set the tone for the day. Make the bed, unload the dishwasher, organize your bag, etc. These simple tasks only take a few minutes, but always help to get in a productive mindset for the rest of the day.

Power playlist. | If you're like me, music plays a big part of my day and how I feel. I love creating playlists to energize and inspire my mood. Good music makes powering through a to-do list way better, if you ask me!

Prioritize to-do's. | Determine what needs to be done now, tomorrow, and what can hold until later this week. Setting priorities puts things into perspective and breaks down what's most important. I like keeping an "at a glance" monthly calendar, as well as a daily to-do list, to keep on track with commitments and goals.

Go green. | It's no coincidence what we eat affects our day. I try to eat as much green, non-processed foods as possible — and feel much better doing so! Don't forget to stay hydrated, too.

Get moving. | Even a little exercise, like stretching or a quick walk, can make a big impact. Take a break to stroll around the block, grab a coffee down the street, or enjoy your lunch outside. Fresh air always helps to clear my mind and feel energized.

Reward yourself. | It's all about balance, right?! Having something to look forward to is a motivating factor. Meeting a friend for happy hour, planning a weekend mini-getaway, or indulging in a sweet treat seems to work ;)

Spring Cocktail Party

posted on: Friday, March 18, 2016

Glimpses of spring are here, and I can't help but feel excited for longer, sunnier days — and more occasions to get together with friends and raise a glass! Spring is all about a fresh and clean palette, like these entertaining accents for throwing a cocktail party or fun gift ideas for the hostess. I'm swooning over these vintage-inspired fleur de lis glasses, a cocktail book drawing from seasonal ingredients, these beautifully patterned serving plates, and a Meyer lemon mix that looks simply delish. (And, if you ask me, this ceramic flask would be pretty perfect to tote along to a spring picnic, don't you think?) Have a great weekend, everyone!
